About L4F

Green Laning and off road image of a 4x4 At Laning4Fun we put a lot of effort into planning our routes carefully. We take into acount everything from choosing lanes that are legal, to ensuring the lanes we use are not too damaged. We also plan routes that are safe, enjoyable and within the capabilities of those going on the trip. This means both from the point of view of the vehicles going and the experience of the drivers.

Green lanes can be anything from roads where the surface has deteriorated to virtually untouched pastureland or rocky terrain. What's more, they can change completely in different weather, so you need to bear that in mind too! A rocky pass can become extremely slippery in the rain requiring a very different approach, a dusty trail can become a muddy quagmire. Shallow streams can become much fuller at certain times of year so you have to be prepared for what you may find, sometimes this may mean going round a section that has become unpassable safely.

We generally plan days out, starting fairly early so we can make the most of daylight on the lanes. We try and get the majority of the roadwork out of the way travelling to and from the planned route. By spending time planning and reconoitering a route properly you can ensure a great day out with a variety of scenery and terrain.

We also arrange longer trips with a night camping over which is a great opportunity for fun. This also helps when touring some lanes further from home in order to get the most out of them. It's a great way to get to know folks and take a break from the hum drum. By organising events around the people that go on them we hope to make them a great experience which encourage people to make the most of their vehicles and the places available to use them.

Based in Cheshire, we have tried an tested routes around north and south Wales, Derbyshire, Shropshire and are always looking to find new places to explore. If you are interested in finding out more email us as info@laning4fun.co.uk. Details of upcoming events will be listed in the events section of this site.
